OGC Nice manager Franck Haise reveals incredibly short RC Lens preparation time

OGC Nice’s preparation for Saturday night’s match against RC Lens has been… suboptimal. Le Gym faced Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night and this fixture, coupled with fatigue and injuries has meant that Haise has not had time to train specifically for the match against Lens.

Lille OSC manager Bruno Genesio fumed earlier this week about the packed calendar and the inability to properly prepare for games, a viewpoint – at least partially – shared by his counterpart, Haise. “I understand his comments,” said the Nice manager.

It is a quick turnaround, coupled with an ongoing run of three matches per week and a spate of injuries and fatigue that meant that Les Aiglons’ preparation to face Lens was incredibly short. “We haven’t had a session to specifically train for Lens because we’ll only be out for 30 minutes on the field today (Friday),” said Haise in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

“Why such a short session? Between the injuries, the state of fatigue of those who are playing all the matches, and the fact that it isn’t the last match in the run, I have to do that. I even need to add breaks in weeks with three matches and leave a day of rest, which I didn’t do before. I am not even giving the Lens presentation to the players today,” said Haise.

Not the ideal preparation for Nice as Haise returns to the Stade Bollaert for the first time since leaving Les Sang et Or in the summer.
