Stade Rennais are looking to offload midfielders this January. The Ligue 1 side are falling short of expectations, languishing in the lower-mid table and are looking to rejuvenate the squad, but only after getting rid of those surplus to requirements. Two midfielders: Glen Kamara and Baptiste Santamaria, fall into that category. Both are in the ‘loft’ with Rennes looking to sell them this month.

However, whilst there is a focus on sales, there are also plans to recruit. Brice Samba and Seko Fofana have both already signed for Les Rennais, who are in the market for another midfield reinforcement. Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangaré (27) is one of the players who has been targeted, according to Foot Mercato

Injuries have restricted the Nottingham Forest midfielder to just four appearances this season, however, he is expected to return at the end of the month. However, Sangaré, who once plied his trade for Toulouse FC, is not looking to return to France, and so Rennes are now looking at other targets.

Former SCO Angers midfielder Batista Mendy, now playing for Trabzonspor, is another target, however, that would be a difficult deal to pull off due to interest in the player from Spain and England. Flamengo’s Erick Antonio Pulgar, whom SRFC manager Jorge Sampaoli knows from his time in South America, is another target, however, Flamengo do not want to sell. Rennes’ search for midfield reinforcements is therefore proving difficult.
