Rennes have submitted a €22m bid to Ligue 1 rivals Lens to acquire Kevin Danso (26), according to L’Equipe. The Austria international centre-back is also of interest for Premier League side Wolverhampton. Wolves have reportedly seen a similar bid turned down by the Artois side. The outlet understands that Les Rouge et Noir consider Danso a priority signing to steady Jorge Sampaoli’s leaky defense.

Should Lens accept Rennes’ bid, Danso would reunite with former teammates Brice Samba and Seko Fofana as well as with Arnaud Pouille. The latter was Lens CEO and is now Rennes president. L’Equipe adds that Lens would only accept to part ways with Danso in exchange for a €30m total package with a €25m fixed transfer fee. Les Sang et Or have already lost two key defensive components this winter transfer window with Abdukodir Khusanov and former captain Samba both leaving for big-money moves to Manchester City and Rennes.

Rennes are looking to bring in reinforcements until February 3rd to turn the club’s fortunes around. They have already signed Fofana, Samba and Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi for a combined €47m. They have also a keen interest in Salzburg defensive midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath.
