'A vow to himself': Liverpool source now shares which moment transformed Mohamed Salah's Anfield career forever

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, with the winger since becoming one of the best players in the world by some distance.
The Egyptian international has broken numerous Premier League and club records since making the move to Anfield seven years ago, with Salah now ranked amongst the top-five Liverpool goalscorers of all-time.
With Rio Ferdinand claiming that Salah is now one of the most ‘devestating’ players in world football, the 32-year-old forward is showing no sign of slowing down, with the Liverpool no. 11 flying under Arne Slot this season.
Yet one moment in Salah’s Liverpool career seemingly changed everything forever for the attacker.
Salah used 2018 UEFA Champions League final as fuel to improve
According to Goal, Salah used the disappointment of the 2018 UEFA Champions League final to improve himself physically, with the winger dislocating his shoulder after a challenge by Sergio Ramos which led to the forward missing part of the FIFA World Cup that summer.
The Liverpool source said: “He went away after Kyiv and made a vow to himself that he was gonna come back and you’re never going to see him limp off or kicked out of a game in that way.

“That absolutely accelerated a certain kind of training, strengthening his upper body and his joints. He was in good shape when he came to Liverpool, but there’s no doubt that in the last three, four or five years, he’s gone up several levels in terms of physique.
“I think that was an influential part of his obsession with being stronger, more well-built. Being forced off early on in the biggest game of his career and then obviously having to miss half of the World Cup played a big part.”
Salah’s transformation has made him the best in the world
Six years and multiple titles later, it’s safe to say that Salah’s decision to transform himself has paid off big time, with the 32-year-old now arguably the best player in the world after an incredible season with Liverpool.
Winning the Champions League one year after Kyiv and clinching the Premier League title in 2020 have been notable high points for Salah at Liverpool, who this season could go one better and win both trophies yet again for the Reds.
And in what could be Salah’s final year at Liverpool, the winger will want to end his Anfield career with a bang, with the attacker in the form of his life an inspiring the Merseyside giants to win after win in all competitions.
