Liverpool came away from the City Ground with a point in an entertaining clash against Premier League title rivals Nottingham Forest.

Diogo Jota was the hero for the Reds as the Portuguese international scored with his first touch of the match to ensure that the honours were even in Nottingham, with Liverpool now hoping that Arsenal will once again slip up later tonight.

With Arne Slot impressed with Liverpool’s second-half performance against Forest, there were a lot of positives for the Reds to take despite a sloppy start that allowed Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to go into the break 1-0 up.

And Stephen Warnock saw one thing from Slot that showed why the Dutchman is completely different to Jurgen Klopp.

Slot praised for adapting Liverpool’s tactics on the fly

Speaking on NBC Sports coverage of the match, the former Liverpool defender hailed Slot and his ability to keep his opponents guessing, with the Dutch manager changing the system multiple times against Forest to eventually secure a point.

With Warnock noting that Klopp could sometimes be one-dimensional with his tactics, Slot’s ability to adapt Liverpool’s shape with the flick of a switch is something that has helped the Reds plenty of times this season, with the pundit impressed with what he saw at the City Ground.

Warnock said when asked about Slot’s approach to facing Forest: “I love the fact that when you watch Liverpool now that under Jurgen Klopp you knew what you were getting every week, but Arne Slot, he’s got the ability to tinker with the systems.

“You see Gravenberch going into centre-back and then he back into midfield, so you’re constantly asking questions as a player. Forest will be thinking: ‘He threw everything at us there.’ Yes they conceded a goal, but there will be a sense of: ‘What could have been.’ However, it’s still a brilliant result for them.”

Slot is evolving Liverpool into something unstoppable

Results might have been mixed in recent weeks after draws against Manchester United and now Forest as well as a League Cup loss against Tottenham, but there’s no denying that Slot is taking Liverpool in the right direction.

Indeed, even with some blemishes, Liverpool’s record has been fantastic in recent weeks, with the Reds still top of the Premier League and on course to finish in first place in the UEFA Champions League league phase standings.

And with some new signings in upcoming transfer windows, Slot could soon have a squad that will be unstoppable for rival teams to catch up, with a new and exciting era starting to break at Anfield under the Dutchman.
