Liverpool face a big eight months as they try to ensure they sort out of the future of a number of key players in the first-team squad.

Going into the summer in 2025, the Reds have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah all running out of contract.

All three have been linked with moves away, meaning a potentially disastrous scenario for Liverpool.

Of course, there seems to be plenty of noise about Alexander-Arnold in particular.

Real Madrid are known to admire Trent a lot and there’s even been suggestions of Jude Bellingham trying to woo the Liverpool star with tails of Madrid’s lifestyle.

Liverpool fans are praying that Trent signs a new deal.

But according to club legend Mark Lawrenson, a decision has already been made – on the player’s side anyway.

Trent Alexander-Arnold tipped to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid

Speaking on TalkSPORT this morning about the situation with Alexander-Arnold, former Reds defender Lawrenson stated he believes the right-back has already made up his mind.

"I think he has already agreed to go, to be honest with you, because his big mate plays there, doesn't he?,” Lawrenson said.

“And I think he is one of those lads who is very well educated, and he's kind of thinking, you know what? I have done everything at Liverpool, maybe I have got to go to Spain, learn the language.

“Why wouldn't you want to play for Real Madrid? They win the Champions League every year, don't they?"

Madrid a hard club to turn down

While playing for Liverpool as a homegrown player is massive, there is something alluring about playing for Real Madrid.

We’ve seen so many times over the years how the best of the best end up in the Spanish capital and there’ll be part of Trent that wonders if he passes this chance up, will it ever come again?

He’s also achieved so much with Liverpool that in reality, there’s not a lot left for him to do in a Red shirt.

Lauded as a ‘magnificent‘ player for what he’s done at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold could be faced with a huge call to make here.

But as Lawrenson says, with Jude Bellingham right there in his ears, the longer this drags on, the harder it gets for Liverpool to keep their star man.
