Argentina continue to show that they are the best national team in the world.

The World Cup winners faced two tough tasks during the current international break in Uruguay and Brazil; however, La Albiceleste came through both with ease, cementing their place at the top of the South American World Cup qualifying table with a healthy eight-point lead.

Argentina had already qualified for the 2026 World Cup before they played Brazil on Tuesday night, and they put on a show for their home fans as Lionel Scaloni’s men hammered their rivals 4-1.

Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister got himself on the scoresheet and having impressed on the night, Argentina’s national media reacted to the midfielder’s display against Brazil.

Argentina media react to the performance of Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister

Mac Allister has been a key player for Arne Slot at Liverpool this season and his importance does not diminish in value when the midfielder goes away with his national team.

Argentina’s media were impressed with Mac Allister against Uruguay, and having followed that display up with another brilliant performance against Brazil, the press were keen to heap praise on the Liverpool star once again.

One of the biggest outlets in Argentina, TyC Sports, gave Mac Allister a seven rating and stated: “He’s such a complete player that it’s hard to single out one aspect of his game; he does them all. Manages to always be in a good position and surprises to score the 3-0 goal.”

Bola Vip were a bit more generous, rating the 26-year-old’s performance as an 8.5 with the comments: “One of the key players in a midfield that functioned perfectly. He also produced a precise finish to set up Argentina’s third goal.”

Finally, La Nacionalso gave Mac Allister a seven out of ten rating and said: He improves what he touches. Another highlight in the national team’s concert of virtuoso midfielders. He assisted Paredes and broke free to exploit the gaps Brazil left in their own half. He had great intuition to storm into the opponent’s box, as he did for his goal with a subtle touch. If a teammate is in trouble, Mac Allister will always appear to relieve him.”

Alexis Mac Allister’s Brazil performance in numbers

Mac Allister has been key to Liverpool’s Premier League title charge and has proven to be one of the best signings the Reds have made in years.

The midfielder showed just how good he is once again against Brazil on Tuesday night as the midfielder scored a goal, completed 87% of his passes, had 41 touches, made one clearance, one interception and a tackle.

Liverpool will also be thankful that Mac Allister returns to Merseyside without any fitness issues, as Slot will need the 26-year-old for when the Reds take on Everton in a week.

Liverpool have nine Premier League games left this season, and by the end of it, the World Cup winner will be hoping to have his hands on his first English league title at Anfield.
