'Amazing': Don Hutchison suggests the only two players in world football who are close to Mo Salah right now

Mohamed Salah’s form this season for Liverpool has been outrageous even by the lofty standards he’s set at Anfield so far.
The Egyptian has led from the front under Arne Slot and has scored 19 goals across all competitions as he leads the way in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
Salah has aged like fine wine and scored in Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Leicester City in a game that saw them extend the gap at the top of the table to seven points.
And Don Hutchison believes the Egyptian king may just be the best player in the world at the moment.
Mohamed Salah lauded for Liverpool form this season
Salah was in the thick of the action against Leicester as the Reds came from behind to secure all three points.
He hit the post in the second half and kept pushing for an equaliser after Jordan Ayew gave the Foxes a shock lead.
While Cody Gakpo and Curtis Jones helped Liverpool complete the comeback, Salah struck late in the game with a fantastic curled finish to put his stamp on the game.
And Hutchison believes the Egyptian is in a league of his own, with Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jnr and Kylian Mbappe up there with him among the best players in the world.
"I think he is,” said Hutchison when asked if Salah is currently the best player in the world.
“We all look at Kylian Mbappe and Vini Jr has had one or two injuries this season – I love him and I think he's amazing.
“But if you stand Salah alongside Mbappe and ask for output, if you look at what Salah does every single game, you have to be effective and deliver and that's what he does."
Salah’s stats this season
Martin Keown feels Salah has gone to another level this season and his underlying numbers add value to those claims.
Mohamed Salah stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
Premier League | 17 | 16 | 11 | 1.497′ |
UEFA Champions League | 6 | 2 | 4 | 513′ |
EFL Cup | 2 | 1 | – | 50′ |
His future is up in the air as his contract runs out next summer, but Liverpool have offered Salah a new contract and will hope to tie him down for the next two years at least.
The Egyptian is playing the best football of his career and his form will be crucial if the Reds are to continue competing on all fronts.
