Arne Slot has exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations of him so far, having won 15 of his 17 games in charge of Liverpool.
The Dutchman has earned rave reviews at Anfield for his tactics and attention to detail, with the Reds losing just once so far in his tenure – which was a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last month.
Much like Jurgen Klopp, Slot decided to bring his backroom team from Feyenoord with him, while the likes of Jonny Heitinga and Fabian Otte were added to Liverpool’s coaching staff earlier this season.
And Andy Robertson believes one of Liverpool’s new coaches has already made a massive impression at the club so far.
Andy Robertson praises Liverpool coach Ruben Peeters
Club football has taken a bit of a backseat due to the ongoing international break, but that hasn’t stopped Slot from fine-tuning his coaching staff.
David Breen and Roderick van der Ham have been added to Liverpool’s backroom staff, with the former set to assume the role of first-team physio and the latter set to serve as a video analyst.
However, it is Ruben Peeters who has caught Robertson’s eye, with the Belgian serving as Liverpool’s lead physical performance coach.
“He's [Slot] brought in Ruben [Peeters], which has been very different,” said Robertson in a Liverpool roundtable alongside Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker.
“Our match day routines are different and on the night before games, we've probably done a bit more yoga and meditation."
Along with Peeters, Slot also decided to bring in Sipke Hulshoff, while the likes of Jonny Heitinga and Fabian Otte were added to his coaching staff upon taking charge of the club.
What has Slot said about Peeters?
In his first-ever interview as Liverpool boss, Slot highlighted how important it was for him to bring Peeters and Hulshoff along with him to Anfield.
He said (quotes via LFC): “We will bring in a performance coach, Ruben Peeters, who is going to help me and the club with – how would I put this in English words? – the way we are working on the physical side.
“Us three have worked together at Feyenoord for three years now and we know how we want to work, which is normal.
“And then there’s a replacement in the goalkeeping staff as well – we’ve brought in Fabian Otte, who was working at Borussia Monchengladbach and is still now with the USA team at the Copa America.”
