Liverpool have done an incredible job of making a smooth transition between managers this season.

There had been plenty of worry around the club about exactly how the Reds would cope with losing Jurgen Klopp and most of his staff.

However, Arne Slot was identified as the man to handle that switch and the Dutch coach couldn’t have done it better.

As well as Slot, the new Liverpool coaching staff deserve immense credit for the way they have hit the ground running, too.

It is no surprise to see John Heitinga linked with managerial jobs, for example, given the early work he has done alongside Slot at Anfield.

Unfortunately, however, Liverpool have not been immune to seeing key people leave the club to continue their careers elsewhere. And after news out of Norway on Tuesday, it seems that Slot has lost a long-serving stalwart of the Reds.

Mads Jorgensen leaves Liverpool

Liverpool saw a big shift in their recruitment over the summer, as Michael Edwards returned alongside Julian Ward, with Richard Hughes coming in as sporting director.

Long-serving director of scouting and recruitment Dave Fallows also left, having been on the team since 2012.

One man who had been a part of the same team since before Fallows even arrived was Danish scout Mads Jorgensen.

But according to moldefk.no, the official website of Norwegian club Molde, Jorgensen has left Liverpool to join them instead.

“Molde Football Club is pleased to announce that Danish scout Mads Jorgensen has signed for the club!” they delightedly report.

“The 45-year-old Dane has worked for Liverpool since 2011, where he has been a key figure in identifying and scouting talent for one of the world’s biggest clubs. Now he returns to Scandinavia to join our ambitious scouting team.”

Could Liverpool’s recruitment strategy change?

Given the exits of the likes of Fallows and Jorgensen, it begs the question of whether Liverpool are going in a new direction under their incoming team.

Obviously, the likes of Edwards and Ward have been at the club before – for a long time it must be said – but perhaps they are keen to go a new way.

Certainly, the signing of Federico Chiesa would seem to suggest that things could now be different.

26 when joining and regarded as something of a spent force by many, Chiesa was not the typical kind of signing Liverpool fans had become used to under Edwards’ previous regime.

With certain members of his team now leaving, maybe we should once again start to expect the unexpected from Edwards in the transfer market. Either way, all the best Mads on your new venture and thank you for your years of service!
