Despite going behind twice, Liverpool ended the day with more possession, more passes, and more xG than hosts Arsenal.

At least in the Premier League, it seems fair to say that Liverpool's last two outings have been their toughest of the season, with Arne Slot's Reds now nine matchweeks deep into the 2024-25 season and having beat Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield and drawn Arsenal 2-2 at the Emirates their last two matches.

Neither game could be called a perfect performance for Liverpool, but four points from a possible six against two of the strongest sides in England's top flight is hard to turn your nose up at, and Slot says that he saw a lot of positives in the performances of his players against the two London heavyweights.

"I saw different things in the last two Premier League games," he said after the match. "Last week we had to defend our lead against a very strong Chelsea and that's what we did. That was one of the first times, especially against such a strong team, and today we had to come back two times from going behind.

"I don't think we went behind many times at this moment. Then going two times behind in a hostile—the fans were quite loud—environment and to show up like we did in the second half was something I've learned today and take as a very positive and in the end of the game I think we deserved this point."

While Arsenal and that club's fans may always find a way to feel hard done by, when the final whistle blew it was Slot's Liverpool that had held more possession, attempted more passes while completing them at a higher rate, and created more goal scoring chances based on expected goals created.

"After the first half you can adjust your game a bit and take a bit more risk," he added of his side's second half pushback. "That's what we did, but I think the main thing in the second half was we put more energy into the game. I think we got a big point today if you look at how strong we were second half."
