Liverpool escaped from the Emirates Stadium with a point on Sunday after drawing with Arsenal.

The Reds came from behind twice in North London to maintain their unbeaten away record this season.

It was not a perfect performance by any means from Liverpool. Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher said he was ‘disappointed’ by the Reds ability to create chances especially.

Nevertheless, it could certainly have been worse. Arsenal were well on top in the first-half especially and showed why they have been such a force in the Premier league.

Liverpool stood up strong, though, with the duo of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate especially good once again.

And speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Carragher claimed that Konate in particular stood up to be counted at Arsenal.

Jamie Carragher raves about Ibrahima Konate

Konate has had an excellent start to the season for Liverpool.

There were question marks over the Frenchman after a disappointing end to last season.

But Konate has answered those doubts emphatically, becoming a key player once again for the Reds.

Before Sunday’s game, he and Van Dijk had conceded just three goals in the Premier League season.

And although two more were added to that tally against Arsenal, Carragher was left in little doubt that there was nothing Konate could have done about either of them.

“Konate was fantastic, Liverpool’s best player by a mile,” raved the Liverpool legend.

“How much he stopped down that side, coming across.”

Konate stands firm yet again

Konate has been one of Liverpool’s best players during the early parts of the campaign.

And the 25-year-old was needed once again at the Emirates, as Arsenal threatened to take Liverpool to the cleaners.

The Reds gave up far too much of the game to the Gunners in the first-half in particular, with Konate needing to stand up to set-piece after set-piece.

In the end it was one free-kick too many and Mikel Merino punished that.

But with Liverpool under the cosh a little, Konate stood up firm to ensure that there was no further damage done to the scoreline. Without the No.5, there’s no way the Reds would have gotten away with a point on Sunday.
