Darwin Nunez is not expecting to leave Liverpool during the January transfer window despite interest from AC Milan, Rousing The Kop can exclusively reveal.

Nunez has had a difficult season so far, scoring just four times in all competitions under Arne Slot.

This has led to speculation that Nunez could leave Liverpool during the month ahead. However, RTK have been informed that while there is interest in the Uruguayan, a January move is currently unlikely to happen.

Milan are understood to hold an interest in Nunez, but talk of an imminent bid is thought to be overblown.

RTK understand that intermediaries have been touting the potential availability of Nunez to clubs across Europe, but any transfer is far more likely to happen during the summer.

Darwin Nunez still happy at Liverpool

Nunez has started just 14 times in all competitions this season, clearly falling down the pecking order with Slot at the helm.

While Nunez would clearly prefer to be playing, RTK have been informed that the 25-year-old is accepting of his current situation at Liverpool.

Nunez has been described as ‘not exactly banging the door down’ to demand playing time and is understood to be fully committed to Liverpool for the rest of the season.

During the summer, however, sources indicate that things are likely to be different.

Milan’s interest is understood to be genuine and the Italian side’s imminent sale of Noah Okafor to RB Leipzig is set to heighten their search for a new forward.

Meanwhile, it’s understood that Milan are not the only club keeping an eye on Nunez’s situation.

The former Benfica striker’s wage and transfer fee could be a stumbling block for teams in Europe, although it’s unclear exactly what price Liverpool would be looking to recoup.

Liverpool keeping an eye on forward market

While Liverpool are understood to be planning for the rest of the season with Nunez onboard, RTK have been informed that the Reds are assessing their options moving forward.

As we exclusively revealed on Wednesday, Liverpool are growing excited over the prospect of signing Nico Williams.

Williams is thought to be one of the many options the Reds are considering for a summer transfer.

It’s understood that the search for a new attacker is not solely linked to the future of Mohamed Salah, with Slot keen to put his own stamp on the Liverpool squad.
