Liverpool endured one of their most surprising results this year on Saturday after losing 1-0 at home against Nottingham Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side managed to secure a famous win at Anfield as Liverpool lost to Forest at home in the league for the first time since 1969, with the Reds also losing ground in the title race with Manchester City and Arsenal both winning.

With Arne Slot slamming Liverpool after the full-time whistle, there is a clear air of annoyance surrounding the Reds’ camp, with Virgil van Dijk also sending a message to his teammates to improve as soon as possible.

And pundit Richard Keys has now noticed what Slot is doing that Jurgen Klopp never did at Liverpool.

Slot told Klopp never would have underestimated Premier League opposition

Writing for his official website, the pundit made the claim that Klopp never would have underestimated a Premier League opponent like Forest, something Keys believes Slot did on the weekend at Anfield.

Indeed, the Premier League is quite a leap from the Eredivisie where Slot had made a name for himself with Feyenoord, and Keys believes the Dutch coach has a lot to learn about the English top-flight if he’s to succeed with the Reds.

Keys said when discussing Liverpool’s defeat against Forest: "It's been suggested Slot got it wrong because he picked 11 starters who'd been on international duty. If it was an error I don't think Klopp would've made it. He knew our league better than Slot.

“For the record, Forest started only three who'd been away In Holland, you can probably get away what Slot did. The intensity is less severe in the Eredivisie. In our league, there's no hiding place. It's full on every week. I guess Slot will learn that and we should give him time, but this weekend Slotball went flat."

Slot now has another doubter to prove wrong at Liverpool

Keys’ footballing opinions are certainly unique, with the pundit questioning Slot’s decisions just a few weeks after the Liverpool manager secured a fantastic 3-0 win against Manchester United.

Yet for the Dutch coach, Keys’ comments mean that the Liverpool manager has yet another doubter to prove wrong, a list that is only going to increase if the former Feyenoord manager falls to another shock result.

With AC Milan coming up tomorrow, Slot has the perfect opportunity to prove his critics wrong with a big result against one of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Liverpool’s squad likely to be fired up for the occasion.
