Sunday's victory over Chelsea in the Premier League marked the table topping Reds' toughest test of the 2024-25 season so far.

Eight games into the 2024-25 Premier League season Liverpool are top of the table, and much of their success is thanks at least in part to the unexpected emergence of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch as a solution in the six for new head coach Arne Slot.

The young Dutch star was again outstanding against Chelsea on the weekend in a game that arguably marked the Reds' toughest test across all competition so far, and after the match Gravenberch spoke about his side's hard-fought victory over the London Blues.

"It was not an easy game," he said following Sunday's 2-1 victory. "I think in the end we fought a lot and we deserved to win. We stuck always together and just kept playing, kept playing, and we knew that the second chance is would come and we finished it."

Things don't get any easier over the next couple of weeks, with a Wednesday date away at RB Leipzig in the Champions League and then a Sunday before Liverpool welcome third-place Arsenal to Anfield on Sunday for a clash of English title contenders.

Back-to-back games against Brighton away in the League Cup and at home in the Premier League follow before the Reds play home dates against Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa before Gravenberch and others will depart for the November international break.

"It's really early, we have a lot of games, but we are in a good position and we have to keep going," he added. "I'm just enjoying playing this season as a six. I'm enjoying it and trying to be as consistent as I can. It's been going good now we have to keep going."
