'Has gone': Carragher blasts Liverpool after what he saw against Forest and aims transfer message at FSG

Liverpool had to settle for a draw from a tough game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
The Reds knew they were set for a battle against a Forest side who had won seven straight games in all comeptitions.
And so it proved right from the start, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team showing that their third-place position in the Premier League table is not by accident.
Although Liverpool actually began the game in decent fashion, they couldn’t make the pressure count and conceded cheaply to Chris Wood.
The goal was so simple in it’s creation, with Liverpool’s solidity from earlier in the Premier League season completely deserting them.
Watching on unimpressed, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher blasted what he’d seen from the Reds.
Jamie Carragher unimpressed by Liverpool defending
Liverpool looked like an incredibly difficult team to get the better of defensively earlier in the season.
The Reds began the campaign in imperious form at the back, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate looking impenetrable.
But with Konate admitted he’s not 100 per cent fit before this game and it showed on Tuesday.
To be fair to Liverpool they did straighten out and were more solid as the game went on. But taking to X immediately after the final whistle, Carragher sounded a warning towards his former club.
“Liverpool should've won tonight, but they continue to create big chances even in the games they don't win, but the defensive solidity they had at the start of the season has gone,” he says.
“Always look likely to concede. Buy a defender!!!!”
Will Liverpool buy a new defender?
Carragher will certainly not be alone in his call for Liverpool to buy a new defender.
The Reds are on their last legs in terms of their backline just now, with Joe Gomez still a little way off being fully fit.
Konate really does not look fit right now as well and that is a real worry.
However, for the time being it looks mightily unlikely that Liverpool will do any business at all this January, let alone a defender.
Until the end of the season, it looks probable that Arne Slot is going to have to go with what he has.
