Curtis Jones enjoyed one of his best games yet in a Liverpool shirt after a match-winning performance against Chelsea.

The 23-year-old midfielder won a penalty and scored the crucial goal for the Reds to secure all three points against the Blues, with the result solidifying Liverpool’s spot at the top of the Premier League standings.

With Jones named in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week, the England youth international sent out a major statement with his performance in the midfield for Liverpool, with the youngster looking undroppable ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League tie against RB Leipzig.

Yet Danny Murphy has now shared how Jones could get even better for Liverpool.

Jones told to improve his goal and assist tally for Liverpool

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit noted how Jones needs to increase his goal output as well as his assist numbers if he’s to really nail down a spot in Arne Slot’s starting XI for Liverpool in the weeks to come.

With Aaron Ramsey sharing how much he loved Jones’ movement in the attacking-third for Liverpool, the midfielder is more than capable of increasing his numbers, with the youngster showing against Chelsea he can do just that.

"The question mark a little bit over Curtis in recent times, I mean, he had has a few injuries to be fair to him, has been the end product. I don't know if you recall a goal he got against Everton when he burst onto the scene and bent one into the top corner.

“I know from his younger days he has been well known to score goals and beat people and be really creative, so the numbers in assist and goals need to be higher from him because he has got the quality to do it."
