'He's so smart': Tottenham player agrees with Son Heung-min that Mo Salah is the best player in the PL

Liverpool look like they could be in for a special season both collectively and in terms of individual players.
The Reds have started the season like a house on fire, collecting 15 wins from 17 games.
That has shot them to the top of the Premier League table while also marking them out as the best team in the Champions League so far.
While many members of the Liverpool squad have really turned up to make that happen, the key man, as ever, has emerged as Mohamed Salah.
Salah has 10 goals and 10 assists across 17 appearances this term. With eight and six of each in the Premier League, he tops the charts for goal contributions across the division.
As a result, Salah has a claim to be the best player in the world right now. And according to Tottenham Hotspur pair Son Heung-min and Ben Davies, he is certainly the best in England.
Son Heung-min names Mo Salah as number one
Had everything lined up, Son and Salah could have been teammates at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp was an enormous fan of Son and you could easily see how the South Korean would have been a huge success for Liverpool.
Instead, Son has knuckled down and stuck it out at Tottenham, where he has become a club legend in his own right.
But judging by his comments on Salah during an interview with Sky Sports Premier League alongside Davies, the 32-year-old would have loved playing next to the Egyptian.

Asked to name the best player in the Premier League right now, both Son and Davies pick Salah.
“I’m a big fan of him, it’s unbelievable what he does,” said the Korea captain. “We’ve been talking about the players, there’s a lot of good players. But Mo Salah for many years has been very, very consistent.”
“It’s hard sometimes to look past someone like Mo Salah,” Davies agrees, when questioned on his toughest opponent. “He’s one of them that in one moment he’s so smart he can make a goal from anything. And like Sonny said, it’s the consistency.”
Son Heung-min is Liverpool’s ‘one who got away’
There’s not all that much question about whether Salah is the best player in the Premier League right now.
In the absence of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, Liverpool’s Egyptian King is the next best choice.
Nevertheless, over the years, there aren’t many players in England’s top division we’d have rather had than Son.
Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
Son Heung-min | 311 | 123 | 65 |
Mohamed Salah | 261 | 163 | 74 |
Jose Mourinho said Son could have played for Liverpool and he’s absolutely right. Sadio Mane was arguably a better fit than the Spurs man, but Mane, Salah and Son together – as well as Roberto Firmino – could have ruled the world.
With the Korean now 32 and a little on the way down, this dream is one that will not be realised. Still, it’s good to hear just how highly Son rates Salah.
As for Davies, he’ll be far from the only Premier League left-back thinking along the same lines!
