Curtis Jones truly is the man of the moment and it appears as if anything the Liverpool midfielder touches turns to gold.

Having recently become a dad, Jones has delivered a string of assured displays in midfield for Liverpool and forced his way into the starting XI ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai.

His England debut couldn’t have gone any better as he capped off a tidy performance with a fantastic late goal in the 3-0 win against Greece.

Micah Richards has been speaking about Jones and shared an interesting tidbit from his conversation with former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

Sturridge left Liverpool in the summer of 2019 after winning the UEFA Champions League and Jones had just made his debut for the club a few months prior to his departure.

Nonetheless, Sturridge would have rubbed shoulders with the youngster in training and seen him from close quarters, so his opinion definitely has a lot of value.

In a conversation with the former Liverpool striker, Richards claims Sturridge described Jones as one of the best technical players he’s ever played with, which is some praise as he played for some of the best players of his generation.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Richards said: “I have spoken to Daniel Sturridge about him [Jones] and he said he is one of the best technical players he has ever played with and now you are starting to see it on a regular basis.

“I think the confidence from Liverpool is helping him but going into international he really felt like he was at home.”

Jones’ Liverpool stats this season

Arne Slot says he was blown away when he first watched Jones in training for Liverpool.

Upon his arrival, Szoboszlai was his preferred choice to play alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch.
