'I actually said': Diogo Jota shares what he told Kostas Tsimikas before coming on to score vs Nottingham Forest

Liverpool came from behind to draw 1-1 against Nottingham Forest in an entertaining Premier League contest.
The Reds missed out on the chance to go nine points clear at the top of the standings as Nottingham Forest showed their title-contending credentials at the City Ground against Arne Slot’s side, who were not at the races tonight.
With Arne Slot fuming with referee Chris Kavanagh’s performance this evening, Liverpool simply couldn’t get going as a number of players performed way below their usual best, with Diogo Jota coming off from the bench to secure a point for the Reds.
And the Portuguese international has now shared what he and Kostas Tsimikas spoke about before coming on together to combine for Liverpool’s equaliser.
Jota told Tsimikas to assist him straight from Liverpool’s corner
Speaking to TNT Sports, Jota revealed that he told Tsimikas to take Liverpool’s corner and to assist the striker just like the pair did three years ago in an FA Cup win against Nottingham Forest during the Jurgen Klopp era.
Indeed, Jota and Tsimikas were influential to Liverpool coming away from the City Ground with a point, and the former Wolves man’s admission that the pair planned the goal makes the moment even more special for the duo.
Jota said: “I actually said to him we were watching an FA Cup game from three years ago [vs Nottingham Forest] where he passed it to me, so we were on the touchline saying: ‘Let’s go now and recreate your assist, take the corner.’
“And it was a goal! It was one of those occasions where everything went right, but like I said, I’m not happy because I think we could have won.”
What else has been said about Jota’s Liverpool goal vs Forest?
It took 22 seconds for Jota to find the back of the net after coming on for Liverpool, a goal that will go down in Premier League history as one of the fastest scored from a substitute.
And plenty has been said about the Portuguese international’s header, with Steve McManaman gobsmacked by Jota’s goal against Forest with Jamie Carragher also lauding the Liverpool striker on social media.
Indeed, Jota saved Liverpool’s skin in a big way this evening, and many fans will remember the attacker’s header and the manner in which it was scored given how extraordinary the situation was for the Anfield star.
