Liverpool extended their winning run to three games with a 2-1 victory away to Wolves in the Premier League.

Goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah secured the three points for Liverpool as the Reds were far from their best at Molineux, with Arne Slot praising Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister for their performances on the night.

With Konate picking up criticism from Slot and Gary Neville, though, it’s clear that Liverpool need to improve for their upcoming games if they’re to maintain this winning run, with the Reds now top of the Premier League table.

Yet Tony Cascarino has now made an unusual claim about Liverpool after this weekend’s win.

Liverpool not a team made up of standout individuals this season

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the bizarre claim that Liverpool under Slot are a team made up of good individual players who work for the club rather than a few standout players who steal the limelight.

With Luis Diaz, Salah and Gravenberch some of the best players in the Premier League this season, it’s easy to see why Cascarino’s claim falls apart, with Liverpool relying heavily on their star names to deliver this campaign.

However, this is hardly a bad thing, with Slot getting the best out of players who under Jurgen Klopp were nowhere near this productive in the Premier League, namely Diaz and Gravenberch, who have been revelations.

Cascarino said on Liverpool’s squad performance this season: "I don't see the outstanding performance by one individual all the time. I don't see that, I see a team playing well. Sixes and sevens in performance, you might get the odd eight from somebody. I think that's the way the team is constructed."

Slot is taking Liverpool in the right direction after Klopp

Liverpool have always been a team of superstars, with Slot’s side no different with Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold some of the biggest players in the sport right now.

Yet the Dutch coach is taking the Reds in the right direction, even if the likes of Cascarino think that Slot has tapped into the collective at Liverpool for their results in recent weeks.

Indeed, Liverpool’s superstar players have been key to their form, yet under Slot, new names are becoming key in Diaz and Gravenebrch, who this season have been outstanding for the Reds.
