The Frenchman scored his first Premier League goal against Wolves on Saturday.

Liverpool men found another way to win on Saturday when they went to the Molineux Stadium to face Wolves. Ibrahima Konate headed home the opening goal, and his first of his Premier League career, just before the halftime break. Konate has been providing spectacular service in these openings matches of the season, and showed his quality again in the starting XI.

"Today was a big fight against Wolves. The most important thing today for us was to take the three points," Konate told the club website.

"We are very happy and now we have to be focused for the next game. But we have to learn about what we missed – and I think this is the most important [thing] today.

"I remember the first half was very hard for the team because we were late, and this is what the manager said [at half-time] – we need more concentration and more aggression when we start the pressing. I think when we came back [for] the second half we did it well [in] the first 15 minutes but afterwards it was a big battle again.

"But we expect this game today and I think we have to keep this on our mind and learn about what we missed today."

There is no doubt that the match was a scrappy one, with Wolves holding most of the possession in the opening 20 minutes. It was also the nature of playing Wolves, who have historically been able to be a root to trip over in our hunt for the Premier League title. Konate has been with the team long enough now to know what a battle it is to play that side, home or away, and what a victory means in the long run. Even if it is early in the season still.

"We are very happy and now we have to be focused for the next game. But we have to learn about what we missed – and I think this is the most important [thing] today," the defender continues.

Having scored in various cup competitions, including the Champions League most recently, Konate is pretty pleased that he finally opened up his account in the Premier League, and eager to keep helping the team.

"First goal in the Premier League and I hope it's not the last," Konate agreed.

"Yes, I'm very happy. It was a very nice cross from Jota. OK, I scored but the most important thing is that we won today.

"We work a lot on that and I hope me and Virg [van Dijk] will score more goals this season."
