'In that category': Ray Houghton now thinks Liverpool have a player who reminds him of Cristiano Ronaldo

Liverpool are no strangers to facing Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese attacker one of the best players to ever grace the Premier League.
One of the greatest goalscorers in football history and a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, the former Manchester United star’s legacy will be felt long after the now-Al-Nassr forward hangs up his boots, with Liverpool youngsters Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas admitting that Ronaldo is their idol.
Even with such a strong link to Liverpool’s biggest Premier League rivals, Ronaldo’s achievements in the game with the likes of United, Real Madrid and Juventus command respect, even now with the striker turning 40 in four months time.
And Ray Houghton now thinks Liverpool have a player who reminds him of Ronaldo.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah compared to Ronaldo
Speaking to TalkSport, the former Liverpool star likened Mohamed Salah to Ronaldo in regards to how well the Egyptian international looks after his body and is still in peak physical condition at the age of 32.
Arne Slot recently named Salah as the fittest player in the Liverpool squad, with the former AS Roma star impressing the Dutch coach in pre-season training with the winger looking like a player in his mid-twenties rather this season.

And Houghton has loved what he’s seen from Salah this season, with the pundit saying when asked about the winger’s fitness: "I think the best example is Cristiano Ronaldo. You look at what Ronaldo has done to himself, and how he’s kept himself in prime condition.
“It’s about attitude of mind, it’s about living the right way, it’s about applying yourself. And I think Mo’s in that category. I think he wants to play for as long as he can, because he loves football, he loves scoring goals, he loves assisting.”
Salah is proving he is the modern professional in the Premier League
Salah hasn’t missed a beat since joining Liverpool in 2017, with the former Chelsea star as good as he has been since the day he returned to England over seven years ago.
And for aspiring players, Salah is proving himself to be the modern professional, with the winger keeping himself as fit and healthy as possible and getting results through all his hard work off the pitch.
Salah and Ronaldo can both owe their long careers to the care the take into looking after themselves away from the pitch, and Liverpool have benefited greatly from the Egyptian international’s work in looking after his body.
