Liverpool travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers as they aim to continue their blistering start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

The home side are rock bottom and will look to cause a major upset, while Arne Slot will look to keep the Liverpool juggernaut rolling as they trail Manchester City by two points at the top of the table.

Wolves have looked good in phases this season but have been unable to put games to bed as they find themselves with just a point from five games.

Gary O’Neil’s side have a bunch of talented players and it remains to be seen if things click as high-flying Liverpool make the trip to the West Midlands.

And speaking ahead of the game, Matt Jarvis – who played for the club between 2007 and 2012 – feels his former club have a really special player on their hands who was linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer.

Wolves value Rayan Ait-Nouri at around £38m and the defender was also attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester City, although a transfer didn’t materialize in the summer.

Jarvis lauded Ait-Nouri’s skill and believes the Algerian is a lot better going forward than he is defensively.

“He’s one that your expectations levels of him rise really quickly because he’s got incredible skill and is really comfortable on the ball,” said Jarvis on Redmen TV’s YouTube channel.

“He’s great going forward but he’s playing in a back four as a left back and that can be difficult for him because he’s better as a wing back.

“Defensively, you may be thinking if he’s in a back four, it sort of not stops him from showing his best bits because he will still try, but he’s better going forward than he is defensively. He has scored incredible goals and done some amazing things.”

Liverpool could press ahead with Ait-Nouri move in the future

With Andy Robertson’s not getting younger, Liverpool may be in the market for a new left-back in the upcoming transfer windows.

Additionally, with Robertson’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2026, the Reds may be tempted to cash in on him next summer if he fails to agree a new deal.

Kostas Tsimikas is still at the club, but the Greek international has divided opinion at Anfield and will probably be retained as a backup option.

Liverpool have tracked Ait-Nouri for years and the summer of 2025 could be the perfect opportunity for them to press ahead with a transfer.
