'Inspiring': Former Liverpool player says he's been to the AXA Training Centre to learn from Reds coaches

Liverpool have played host to some of the best managers to ever take charge in football, and the Reds are now starting to make them.
Xabi Alonso enjoyed a successful career at Anfield as a player before moving into the realm of management with Bayer Leverkusen, where the Spanish coach won a domestic double undefeated last season.
With other Liverpool legends like Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano also dipping their toes into management, a new generation of coaches have seemingly spent time in their playing days on Merseyside in some way or another.
And another former Liverpool star, Daniel Agger, has shared what he learnt returning to the AXA Training Centre as a coach.
Agger found Liverpool ‘inspiring’ at all levels after recent visit
Speaking to Tipsbladet, the former Anfield centre-back shared how ‘inspiring’ he found a recent trip to Liverpool, where Agger was given full-access to the Reds’ training facilities at the AXA Training Centre.
Currently an assistant coach with the Denmark national team, the 39-year-old made over 200 appearances for Liverpool in an impressive eight-year career in the Premier League, where Agger won the League Cup and claimed a runners-up medal in the UEFA Champions League.
And Agger was seemingly taken aback by his return to Liverpool, with the Danish coach soaking in every detail he could back in Merseyside and learning the tools of the trade ahead of this week’s international fixtures.
Agger said: "I've been to Liverpool several times to get an idea of how they do it, and not just in the first team, but also the academy. Their mindset is inspiring, and there is a really talented director at the academy who has turned the whole place upside down. It's an inspiring place to be.”
Liverpool is the perfect training ground for aspiring coaches
With former Liverpool academy coach Neil Critchley saying he learnt plenty from Klopp, the red half of Merseyside is proving to be quite the fertile ground for coaches looking to make a name for themself in the senior game.
And with Agger visiting Liverpool several times since becoming a coach, the former Danish international has seemingly been impressed with what he saw on his return to Merseyside some years after departing.
Indeed, Liverpool are at the forefront of the next generation of top coaches, and the likes of Agger will want to make a name for themselves in the years to come as they take their first real steps into management.
