Everything Arne Slot touches seems to be turning to gold as Liverpool secured a 2-0 win against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Reds produced a stunning showing at Anfield and deservedly took the lead in the first half through Cody Gakpo, while Mohamed Salah added another from the penalty spot after the interval.

Liverpool are now nine points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and 11 clear of Man City, who have lost four league games in a row for the first time since 2008.

Several Liverpool players stood out, but Salah was named Sky Sports Man of the Match as he notched up a goal and an assist.

And Jamie Carragher took to X to disagree with that selection as he named the Reds’ best player vs City.

Jamie Carragher said Liverpool showed shades of a Jurgen Klopp team in the first half as they ran Man City ragged to take a 1-0 lead.

Salah was instrumental in their opening goal as his brilliant pass into the penalty area was tapped into the bat of the net from Gakpo.

The Egyptian was in the thick of the action after the interval as he put the game beyond reasonable doubt with a late penalty.

Carragher came under a bit of fire from the Liverpool fans earlier this week by branding Salah as ‘selfish’ for his public contract plea.

And he took to social media to name Virgil van Dijk as his Man of the Match after Sky Sports officially gave the award to Salah.

Salah’s stats vs Man City

With a Sofascore rating of 7.9, Salah emerged as the highest-rated player of the game and his underlying numbers show just how good he was.

Van Dijk was imperious at the back, but the Man City attackers looked a bit toothless as Erling Haaland and Co were quite easily kept at bay.

That said, Carra’s comments seem a bit ill-timed once again, more so after the Anfield faithful called him out for what he said about the Egyptian’s contract…
