Jayden Danns "Buzzing To Keep Scoring" In FA Cup

The young striker scored his third goal in the competition as Liverpool thumped Accrington Stanley
Liverpool have seen quite a few youngsters use cup competitions as a chance to break into the senior team and make a name for themselves. Despite only having played a total of 90 minutes in FA Cup competition over the last two seasons, young striker Jayden Danns has certainly made the most of his time. After scoring two goals as a substitute against Southampton last season, Danns again was able to find the back of the net after coming on in the second half against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
The soon-to-be 19 year old started and finished a move, winning the ball near midfield and distributing it before continuing his run into the box to stuff home a rebound. After the match, Danns was elated with both the opportunity and the result.
"Obviously delighted to get my goal. I don't know what it is [about the FA Cup] but [I'm] buzzing to keep scoring!"
"Obviously the manager has put faith in me today and I'm grateful for it. I scored and I'm really grateful for the opportunity he's given me. Hopefully I can do even more [and] he gives me more opportunities."
"They [Accrington] offered a lot. It's tough, first-team football is a completely different level [with] big lads. So when I'm coming on, it's tough to keep the ball but it's a good challenge. I think I did well but hopefully more to come."
After making an initial break through with the senior team last season, Danns was slated to get more regular senior team minutes on loan this year. Unfortunately, an injury suffered during preseason scuppered those plans. Danns was only able to return to training in December and is now just trying to get back in the groove and make the most of the opportunities he is given.
"I've been out for a while – five months. So coming back, first-team football is a different intensity to any football. So, just work as hard as I can, try to get into the groove of it and then [use] any opportunity to sniff a goal out."
"Obviously I made an impact last season. It's not really any frustration from me. I'm young, there's still a lot more to do hopefully, a lot more I can do. So, I'm looking forward to it."
With Liverpool competing on four fronts, there is a chance that Danns could again be relied upon for further cup involvement if he does not go on loan for the second half of the season. Manager Arne Slot has said the club has not settled on a plan as of yet for the young striker.
