John Aldridge says what Liverpool fans will 'demand' after Mohamed Salah's contract comments

Liverpool are now in danger of having their superb season derailed after Mohamed Salah spoke out about his contract.
Salah is disappointed about his Liverpool contract, with the attacker's deal set to expire at the end of the season.
His comments come after another superb Liverpool performance from the Egyptian, with Salah scoring twice in the 3-2 Premier League win at Southampton on Sunday.
Arne Slot will now be focusing his efforts on the Champions League, with Real Madrid coming to Anfield on Wednesday.
Their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has hailed Mohamed Salah ahead of the match, but it remains to be seen what mindset the winger will be in.
What Liverpool fans will 'demand' after Mohamed Salah contract comments
All eyes will be on the 32-year-old under the lights at Anfield, with the club's former striker John Aldridge now weighing in on the contract debate.
"It’s a little bit political, isn’t it?" he told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It’s a well-known trait of Liverpool to keep things close to their chest but I think the fans will demand to know what’s going on to a certain degree."
And when asked if Liverpool fans will want him to stay, Aldridge responded: "Absolutely, look at his figures. They’re obscene and unbelievable."
Will Liverpool prioritise Mohamed Salah over Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold?
It is an extraordinary and disappointing situation for all involved, with Salah having been Liverpool's standout player for several years now.
Remarkably, however, he isn't the only star in that position, with the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold expiring next summer.

The powers that be at Anfield could be working on deals for all three key players, but that does seem unlikely.
Player | Age | Appearances | Minutes played |
Virgil van Dijk | 33 | 16 | 1,440 |
Mohamed Salah | 32 | 18 | 1,439 |
Trent Alexander-Arnold | 26 | 15 | 1,191 |
They may then need to prioritise one or two contracts in the coming months, with time running out to agree new deals.
And given his current form, with 12 goals already this season, there is certainly an argument for Salah to be the priority, even if he is approaching the latter stages of his career.
