When you've got one of the strongest and deepest squads in football, two games a week isn't all bad.

With the fixtures starting to pile up for Liverpool and two games a week on offer for the foreseeable future, the tendency is to worry about too much football and the risk of players getting worn down and injured.

For Arne Slot, though, there is a silver lining. At least with a squad whose quality runs two deep at every position. And that's chances to make sure some of the players who maybe aren't top of the teamsheet still see the pitch.

"That's the positive thing about playing so many games," he noted when asked about chances like the mid-week League Cup tie against West Ham that saw a fully changed side sweep away the Hammers 5-1.

"These players will play a lot of games but I think they understand they can't play every game unless it's absolutely necessary. As long as they accept the situation—and they are doing so at the moment—it's positive for us.

"That's also my job. I have to keep them happy. I think I said it on many occasions, I am very happy with the squad I inherited. Not only because of their quality but maybe even more about the culture Jürgen left behind.

"All of these players are team players, so they accept their role even when they are not playing always. They always want to work hard for the team first. It's been a privilege to inherit a squad like I inherited from Jürgen."

With two days between West Ham and a league kickoff against Wolves, it's likely Saturday's lineup will look a lot more like last weekend's than mid-week, but as soon as the game ends attention turns to Bologna on Wednesday.

After their Champions League fixture, Crystal Palace follow next weekend before the October international break arrives and players jet around the globe to play two games in many cases with their national teams.
