Major changes are coming to Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad this summer.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League with a healthy 12-point lead over Arsenal and in order to remain in that position next season, Slot will need to strengthen his squad over the summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, which is a major blow for the Reds boss, and Liverpool’s current focus is on getting Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Darwin Nunez is also expected to leave Liverpool this summer, while there is also doubt over the future of Luis Diaz at the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool have also made the decision to let a £40m talent go during the summer, should their asking price be matched, a move that would be a big mistake from the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are ready to sell Harvey Elliott this summer

Harvey Elliott is one of Liverpool’s brightest talents with the 21-year-old already racking up 140 appearances for the Reds, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further 16.

Jurgen Klopp had a lot of faith in the English talent and after netting in a 3-0 win over Ajax back in October 2022, the German praised the midfielder in front of the media, stating: “Since Harvey is playing for the first team, he's incredibly consistent.

"He started last season incredibly consistent, he was in the team and was probably the standout player early in the season.”

Jamie Carragher believes Slot does not trust Elliott as the Dutch coach has not shown the same faith in the youngster this season, with the midfielder only receiving 583 minutes of action.

According to Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy, should a good offer arrive for Elliott this summer, Liverpool would accept it.

Liverpool are ready to demand £40m to part ways with the 21-year-old, reports The Express, with Brighton and Borussia Dortmund two teams interested in Elliott from last summer.

Slot doesn’t trust Harvey Elliott at Liverpool

Elliott showed towards the end of last season just how important he can be for Liverpool as the 21-year-old started in five of Klopp’s last six Premier League games, with the midfielder producing one goal and four assists.

An injury put the English talent on the back foot when it came to impressing Slot at the start of this season and it seems the youngster has never recovered from that.

£40m is a good fee to bring in for Elliott, but it would be more beneficial for the 21-year-old to remain at Anfield. The midfielder is still very young, is technically very good, and can play in multiple roles, which is always a huge benefit for a manager to have.

It would be a big mistake if Liverpool let Elliott go so early in his career and at the very least, a loan move to a Premier League club should be the route they go down.
