Liverpool set to have lunchtime meeting today on transfer – Face-to-face chat will even cover outgoing January deal
Today at 05:16 AM
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deal at Liverpool expires in 2025 and his future could be away from Anfield after this season.
Over the past few weeks, claims from Spain have stated Real Madrid want him, but they haven’t decided whether to make an approach in January or wait until next summer.
On November 13th, Marca reported the 26-year-old’s decision to not renew his contract at Liverpool could see Los Blancos sign him in the winter market.
The Reds host Real Madrid in the Champions League later today and Marca ‘s José Félix Díaz brings the latest on the Spanish club’s interest in Alexander-Arnold.
The newspaper’s senior journalist has close ties with Real Madrid and it’s likely he would have received updates from them. He claims Carlo Ancelotti’s side have q good relationship with Liverpool, and earlier in the season, the Reds called Real Madrid to ask if they are keen on the right-back or if it was just media noise.
Ahead of today’s European tie, José Félix Díaz states Real Madrid have called for a face-to-face lunchtime meeting with Liverpool to discuss the England international.
Their plan was to sign him for free next summer, but Dani Carvajal’s serious injury and concerns over Lucas Vázquez’s fitness could see Real Madrid try to sign Alexander-Arnold in January.
The journalist claims Real Madrid could find out in today’s meeting whether Arne Slot’s side are willing to let the fullback leave in the winter market. Liverpool may have to make a decision.
Marca could be making too much of this lunchtime meeting for Alexander-Arnold because it’s common for officials of the two clubs to meet prior to a Champions League tie.
