Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate aimed a dig at Arsenal fans on social media after the Reds won 6-3 at Tottenham on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz both registered two goals while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also got on the scoresheet in a huge win.
The result means Arne Slot’s Premier League leaders now have 39 points and a game in hand over title rivals Chelsea and Arsenal, who sit second and third with 35 points and 33 points respectively.
Konate did not feature in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Spurs and has missed the Reds’ last five top-flight matches due to a knee problem.
But the 25-year-old France international centre-back celebrated the win by taking a swipe at the Arsenal supporters who trolled him over his injury.
‘Rivalry aside I hope Konate’s injury is serious,’ one Arsenal fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, when the Frenchman picked up his knee issue in November.
A Liverpool fan responded to that post this weekend, with a picture of Bukayo Saka lying on the Selhurst Park turf and writing: ‘Karma is a b****’.
No-one seemed to enjoy that interaction more than Konate, who suggested that Liverpool fans have a touch more class than Arsenal supporters.
‘We are not like them… [eyes emoji], we wish no harm,’ Konate said about the two X posts. ‘Anyway In Sha Allah big 3 pts today.’
Saka was spotted leaving Selhurst Park on crutches after picking up a hamstring problem in Arsenal's 5-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Mikel Arteta has since confirmed Saka will be ruled out for ‘many weeks’.
Given his importance to the Gunners – with Saka registering 15 goal involvements in 16 Premier League games this term – Arteta would wish for the Englishman to be fit and firing at all times.
But Les Ferdinand feels the timing of Saka's injury is ideal as it allows him to rest over the festive period before the second half of the season begins.
'If there was a perfect time to get injured, it would be now,' Ferdinand told Sky Sports about Saka's latest setback. 'If he was going to be out for any spell, it would be over this Christmas period.'
