Liverpool will host Manchester United at Anfield for their first Premier League game of 2025, so Rousing The Kop looks into Mohamed Salah's record against the Red Devils.

The Reds' Egyptian King has regularly loved his opportunities to take on the Red Devils in the Premier League and also especially in the FA Cup. Manchester United are the Anfield outfit's fierce rival yet have seldom stopped Salah from scoring and firing Liverpool to several wins.

Salah has been pulling the strings from the right wing against Manchester United since 2017 when Liverpool signed him from AS Roma. The attacker never played the Old Trafford squad whilst with Chelsea earlier in his career, having been just an unused substitute in a 0-0 draw.

Chelsea's neglect very much proved to be to their Merseyside rival's gain just a year on from him leaving Stamford Bridge when Liverpool signed Salah for £34m. It took him a little bit of time to get going against Manchester United, but Liverpool and Salah have not looked back.

Liverpool have often been able to rely on Salah to contribute goals or assists to improve their record against Manchester United, as well as his own. He has even seldom sat out the Reds' encounters with the Red Devils in all competitions and has often played the full 90 minutes.

Ahead of Liverpool hosting Manchester United at Anfield for their first Premier League game of 2025, Salah has 15 goals and six assists on his record across 16 career games against the Red Devils. That equates to a goal contribution rate of 1.3 per match, including scoring 0.94.

As of the time of writing, Salah is also so far yet to play against Manchester United in either the Champions League, the Europa League or the EFL Cup with any club including Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah's Premier League record for Liverpool vs Manchester United

Salah made his first Premier League appearance against Manchester United for Liverpool in October 2017 following his transfer from Roma that summer. But the forward would not fire the Reds to victory at Anfield under manager Jurgen Klopp as the squads played a 0-0 draw.

He even failed to score or assist a goal over each of Salah's first four Premier League fixtures against Manchester United, through which Liverpool only won once. After also then missing a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford with an ankle injury in October 2019, Salah recorded his first goal.

The win was already almost in the bag, thanks to Virgil van Dijk breaking the deadlock on 14 minutes, but Salah registered the first goal in his Premier League record against Manchester United in the 93rd minute to claim a 2-0 win for Klopp's Liverpool at Anfield in January 2020.

Scoring a late goal as Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker started a counter-attack against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United side also marked a turning point in Salah's record against the Red Devils. He has since given a prolific presence in their top-flight derby games.

Ahead of the Red Devils' trip to Anfield to start 2025, Salah's Premier League record against Manchester United has 12 goals and six assists in 14 games – of which the Old Trafford club have only won two, with Liverpool victorious in seven whilst held to a draw in a further five.

Mohamed Salah's record vs Manchester United in the FA Cup for Liverpool

Salah has only faced Manchester United in the FA Cup as a Liverpool player thus far, having never been drawn against the Red Devils whilst with Chelsea. He also has a strong personal FA Cup record against Manchester United yet Salah's goals have not always aided Liverpool.

While Salah has scored three goals across his two FA Cup ties against Manchester United as of the time of writing, including a brace at Old Trafford during a fourth-round fixture back in January 2021, Liverpool are yet to beat their rivals with the Egyptian in their squad to date.
