With four wins and a loss in five Premier League games, Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season under Arne Slot.

The Dutchman has already endeared himself to the Anfield faithful with his brand of football and no-nonsense personality, but the upcoming weeks are likely to determine whether or not the Reds are good enough to mount a title challenge.

With two away games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace on the horizon, Slot and co need six points to keep pace with Manchester City, who are currently a point clear at the top of the table.

A trip to the West Midlands to face Wolves – who are rooted to the foot of the Premier League standings – might seem straightforward, but Paul Merson feels Slot has some thinking to do ahead of the trip to Molineux.

With Federico Chiesa joining the club in the summer transfer window and the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota all among the goals recently, Merson feels Slot faces a massive selection headache in attack.

While Salah is an undisputed starter, the Reds have five attackers competing for the remaining two spots, which Merson strangely believes to be a bane rather than a blessing.

“In terms of forwards, they are blessed in that department,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.

“Not only will they score a lot of goals, but they will spread it out among themselves over the course of the season.

“This can also be a headache for Arne Slot and sometimes it’s not a good thing because he has to keep all of them happy with playing time.”

This is the right kind of selection headache to have

Slot is in a privileged position in terms of his attack and this is a selection headache he will relish having as each of his attackers have delivered eye-catching performances in recent weeks.

While Gakpo and Jota scored two goals apiece against West Ham United in the EFL Cup, Diaz notched up a brace against Bournemouth in Liverpool’s previous league encounter at Anfield.

Salah’s spot in the team is undisputed regardless of form and Chiesa is just getting up to speed, while Nunez has started each of the Reds’ last two games and shown flashes of his brilliance.

The Dutchman has got his attackers firing and regardless of who he picks at Molineux, Liverpool have enough firepower to blow the opposition away.
