'Not top': Arne Slot says one Liverpool player can 'still do better' after 6-3 Tottenham win

Liverpool extended their gap to four points at the top of the Premier League table as they secured a 6-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur away from home.
Two goals apiece from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah set the Reds on their way to another famous away win this season, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also got their names on the scoresheet from midfield.
Arne Slot’s side are now guaranteed to be top on Christmas Day and will host Leicester City at Anfield in their next Premier League encounter.
Things are looking good for the Reds, but the Dutchman wasn’t entirely convinced with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance on the night.
Arne Slot says Trent Alexander-Arnold could’ve still been better for Liverpool
Starting in his usual right-back spot, the England international was heavily involved in the first goal as his fantastic cross was headed into the back of the net by Luis Diaz.
Alexander-Arnold stuck to his guns and defended quite well against the Tottenham forwards despite conceding twice, with the scoreline slightly flattering the home side as they were comfortably second best.
While Slot acknowledged that the Liverpool defender did well against Heung-min Son, he admitted that Alexander-Arnold’s performance was ‘not top’ for a player with such lofty standards.
“With Trent, the focus might be on the great cross for the first goal but playing against Son is not easy but he did very well,” said Slot to Sky after the game. (via BBC)
“He has increased a bit but he can still do better. Fulham was ok, but for his standards, not top.”
Slot on what’s next for Liverpool
The Liverpool boss has refused to dwell on talks of winning the title so far but admitted after the win against Tottenham that his side are in a very good position.
He continued: “It tells you we are a very good team.
“Still three games to go until halfway but if you go here and play the game we did then it shows we are a hard team to beat. If it was easy to win the league then every team would do it.”
The Reds face Leicester City and West Ham United before the turn of the year and will look to cement their status as table toppers with two wins.
