Real Madrid suffer major injury blow with key player set to miss Liverpool game in the Champions League

Arne Slot and his Liverpool players have no time to celebrate moving eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with Real Madrid up next.
Slot applauded the Liverpool fans after the 3-2 win at St Mary's on Sunday, with Mohamed Salah the hero once more with two goals.
Salah is expecting a Man City fightback, with Pep Guardiola's side slipping up on Saturday with a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
But Liverpool now turn their attention to the Champions League, with current champions Real Madrid heading to Anfield on Wednesday.
The Spanish side, who beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in last season's final, go to England on the back of a 3-0 La Liga win at Leganes.

The Brazilian winger played the entire 90 minutes against Leganes on Sunday, assisting Kylian Mbappe for the opening goal.
Liverpool handed major boost for Champions League clash v Real Madrid
The injury to Vinicius is a massive boost for Slot and Liverpool, with the Anfield faithful all too familiar with just how dangerous the winger can be.
He scored the only goal of the game as Real Madrid beat the Reds 1-0 in the 2022 Champions League final, with the attacker also netting against Dortmund in June.
The Brazilian was certain to start on Merseyside, with the Spanish side in desperate need of points after winning just two of their four European matches this season.

Carlo Ancelotti's side occupy 18th place in the Champions League table on six points, with Slot's side in top place with four wins from four.
Madrid will, of course, still be very strong if Vinicius does not pass a fitness test, with the likes of Mbappe and Jude Bellingham among their world-class stars.
The Spanish side have posted an update on the Brazilian, writing on their website: "Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored."
