Liverpool secured yet another huge Premier League win with a 3-2 result against Southampton.

With Manchester City losing on Saturday, the Reds went eight points clear at the top of the standings with Mohamed Salah scoring a brace to ensure Liverpool left the English south coast with three valuable points.

With Dominik Szoboszlai sending a message on Salah’s Liverpool future, it was a dramatic game for the Reds, who head into next weekend’s mammoth Premier League tie against City in incredible form and with a huge point to prove.

And Jamie Carragher was impressed by one thing he saw from Liverpool against Southampton.

Carragher impressed by Liverpool’s crossing vs Southampton

Speaking on Sky Sports coverage of the match, the Liverpool legend shared how impressed he was with the likes of Andy Robertson and Cody Gakpo’s crossing into the Southampton penalty box, with the Saints having a horrorshow of a defensive performance.

Although Carragher was sad to see Gakpo replaced instead of Darwin Nunez, the introduction of Luis Diaz and the change to the attacking approach made all the difference for Liverpool, with Salah scoring twice quickly after the Colombian’s introduction.

And the Reds made the best use of their forward options against Southampton, with Liverpool coming away with a big win that could go a long way in the Premier League title race this season against City.

Carragher said: “One part of Liverpool’s game that has been really good is balls into the box, especially from this side. Robertson’s had a couple, so has Gakpo. It’s very difficult for Liverpool to go through the centre, with those three Southampton players in there and Armstrong on one of the sides.”
