'Reiterated': Journalist shares what 'sources close' to Harvey Elliott are saying about his Liverpool future
Today at 03:00 PM
Liverpool have exceeded expectations under Arne Slot thus far and have given themselves a brilliant chance of winning silverware in 2025.
The Dutchman has slotted in seamlessly at Anfield, spearheading the Reds to the top of the pile in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
A handful of players like Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have improved under his tutelage and have got a lot more playing time than what was the case under Jurgen Klopp.
For Harvey Elliott, however, the situation has proved to be a bit different as he continues to struggle for minutes.
And now, David Lynch has shared what the Liverpool midfielder thinks about a potential departure.
Harvey Elliott has no intention of leaving Liverpool
Elliott fractured his foot at the start of the season while representing the England U-21 and faced an extended spell on the sidelines.
He has since returned to the team but has started just one game this season, which was in the Carabao Cup against Southampton.
His current situation has raised questions over his future, with a handful of clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Elliott is wanted by both Brighton and Dortmund in the upcoming transfer windows, but sources close to the player have confirmed that he has no intention of leaving Liverpool.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Lynch clarified the midfielder’s future, adding that he loves Liverpool and wants to force his way back into Slot’s plans.
"I spoke to sources close to the player as well and they really reiterated that Harvey Elliott absolutely loves Liverpool.
“He turned down Real Madrid for them, let's not forget that. He's a massive Liverpool fan so he'll do everything he can to make this work and force himself into contention.
“No real doubts over his future, I'd say. No question whatsoever that other clubs are monitoring his situation – that happens to every player in the squad. As I said, no doubts as things stand."
Elliott expected to feature regularly in the coming months
It hasn’t been the easiest first half of the season for Elliott, but with games set to come thick and fast between now and the end of the season, he’ll surely feature a lot more regularly.
Slot says Elliott was unlucky with injuries at the start of the season, due to which it hasn’t been easy for him to come straight back into the team.
The FA Cup game against Accrington Stanley tomorrow presents the 21-year-old with a glorious opportunity to make an impact and stake his claim for a spot in the team.
