Naby Keita will go down as one of Liverpool’s most disappointing signings, and things haven’t got much better for the midfielder since leaving for Werder Bremen.

Keita was injured mere weeks after signing for Bremen with the former Liverpool no. 8 this summer offered the chance to join Championship side Sunderland, a move that the 29-year-old rejected having made just five appearances last season in Germany.

With Keita now frozen out of the Bremen squad, the Bundesliga side are pushing hard to offload the Guniea international with the limited windows that are still open, with 29-year-old costing Die Werderaner precious resources.

And Bremen are now looking to move Keita on to China, of all places.

Bremen looking to offload Keita to China amid interest

According to Sport Bild, Bremen are offering Keita to clubs in China amid some interest in the midfielder from teams in the Chinese Super League, with the German side intent on cutting ties with the former Liverpool man.

As per the report, Keita has been a huge ‘flop’ at Bremen having made just five appearances since joining last summer and this season not even being acknowledged by the club as a player of theirs, with the only mention of the 29-year-old on the German side’s website coming through the club shop.

Indeed, the downfall of Keita has been painful to watch for Liverpool fans, with the midfielder still appreciated by supporters despite his own disappointing spell with the Reds after joining from RB Leipzig with so much hype and excitement.

And with Bremen pushing to sell Keita to China, the midfielder’s career in Europe looks set to come to a sad ending if the Bundesliga side are able to find a suitor for the former Liverpool star, who will be wondering where it all went wrong.

Keita needs to put his career into his own hands and have a complete restart

A return to the Bundesliga was perhaps a misstep for Keita having spent the previous years either spent on Liverpool’s bench or in the treatment room recovering from his latest fitness issue.

Yet at 29-years-old, Keita is still at a stage in his career where he can control where he ends up and how good he plays, and the midfielder will be fully aware that he’s better than a move to China this year.

Having already made the step down from Liverpool to Bremen, Keita could look to make another move down the pyramid to a club where he will be a regular and where he can build up his fitness, but only if the midfielder is determined enough to push himself.
