Report: 'Fantastic' Liverpool defender will get his chance next pre-season if he keeps doing well out on-loan
Today at 01:00 PM
Liverpool have become well versed in finding solutions for their first-team from within the academy.
The Reds have made good use of their youth sides in recent seasons, promoting players such as Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley.
Quansah likely saved Liverpool millions in their search for a new centre-back, while Bradley provides the perfect back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Although they are bona fide members of Arne Slot’s first-team squad now, though, both players had to cut their teeth out on-loan before making their respective breakthroughs.
Bradley’s spell at Bolton was incredibly eye-catching, while Quansah earned his stripes in League One with Bristol Rovers.
The two players showed the benefits of players coming through to the Liverpool squad via a spell in the lower leagues and it seems that left-back Owen Beck is primed to tread that same path.
Owen Beck set for first-team chance
Who is playing at left-back has been a big talking point for Liverpool this season.
While Andy Robertson has featured more often than not, his place in the starting XI has been put under real threat by Kostas Tsimikas.
As a result, there have been claims that Liverpool are looking to sign a new left-back next summer.
With that in mind, The Athletic claim that Beck, spending the season out on-loan at Blackburn Rovers, could yet be given the chance to impress.

They report that the 22-year-old is enjoying his spell under the management of John Eustace in the Championship, with the Blackburn boss said to ‘rate Beck highly.’
Beck is claimed to have ‘impressed defensively and shown his quality going forward’ while also improving his decision-making and communication.
As a result, it’s said that Liverpool will give a chance to the Wales U21 international next pre-season if he ‘continues to impress’ at Ewood Park.
Owen Beck could be the answer for Liverpool
While the Championship is not the Premier League and Blackburn are not Liverpool, there are signs that Beck could be ready to make the step to playing for the Reds.
As Robertson starts to wind down a little and Tsimikas is linked with a move away, there is a real chance opening up at left-back.
Appearances | Minutes | xA (per 90) | Successful Crosses (per 90) | Tackles Won % | Duels Won % | |
Championship 2024/25 | 7 | 629 | 0.19 | 1.14 | 48 | 46.1 |
Liverpool coach Barry Lewtas hailed Beck as being ‘fantastic‘ back in 2022, and the great nephew of Ian Rush has already played three times for the Reds.
Looking to Bradley for inspiration, there is no real reason that Beck should not be able to grasp a future chance when it’s given to him.
As Quansah and his friend Bradley have done before him, the left-back could end up saving Liverpool millions.
