Liverpool’s summer transfer window looks set to be one of the craziest in some time for the Anfield side.

Having made just two signings last year in Arne Slot’s first window as manager on Merseyside, this summer looks ready to be completely different, with Liverpool eyeing as many as five new additions in the market.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold close to signing for Real Madrid, moves are already being made behind the scenes at Liverpool, with the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez also being lined up for departures this summer.

And another big-name player could be set to leave Liverpool despite previous rumours suggesting he was staying put.

Federico Chiesa could leave Liverpool despite previous reports

According to GiveMeSport, Liverpool are open to selling Federico Chiesa this summer should an offer arise from a club in Italy, with Serie A sides believed to be interested in signing the former Juventus attacker.

Diogo Jota lauding Chiesa as a 'dangerous' attacker for Liverpool with the Italian international enduring a tough first season for the Reds, where the winger has struggled with injuries and fitness having arrived with no pre-season last summer.

Chiesa’s future has been something of a paradox in recent weeks with reports suggesting that the Liverpool man could leave having hardly featured this season, rumours that the winger’s father has since rejected over the international break.

Indeed, Chiesa’s place at Liverpool will become clearer as the end of the Premier League campaign draws in to a close, yet the Reds could be making a mistake in allowing the 27-year-old to leave Anfield after just one year.

Liverpool can’t afford to give up on Federico Chiesa just yet

It seems almost stereotypical for an Italian player to want to return to Serie A just one year after joining a Premier League side, with Chiesa potentially the latest name to join the list of big names who have made similar decisions.

Yet with Chiesa’s father saying he’s enjoying life at Liverpool and this season always going to be difficult one for the winger, the Reds would be making a rash decision to allow the winger to leave after just one season in England.

Moreover, replacing Chiesa could take away crucial funds from the transfer budget that could have been spent on more important areas in the squad, such as a new centre-forward or a replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
