Federico Chiesa has had a turbulent time at Liverpool since joining from Juventus in the summer for a bargain £12m transfer fee.

The Italian international has struggled greatly with injuries with Chiesa only making four appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, with rumours now circulating that the former Serie A superstar could already leave Anfield on loan.

Although Liverpool are believed to be against loaning out Chiesa this January, whispers of a temporary switch away from Merseyside continue to persist, with Antonio Conte’s Napoli interested in signing the winger on loan.

Yet it now appears that Liverpool will be open to letting Chiesa leave if one condition is met.

Liverpool open to Chiesa loan if club is willing to pay salary

According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool are open to letting Chies leaving on loan for the remainder of the season if a club is willing to contribute to the winger’s salary, a condition that could open the door to a temporary transfer.

As per the report, Bologna are keeping tabs on Chiesa with the forward most likely to return to Italy for the remainder of the season if Liverpool were to reach a loan agreement on their summer signing for this January.

With just four appearances all season and Chiesa struggling for match fitness, a loan move could be a sensible decision for the former ACF Fiorentina superstar if an interested club is willing to pay something towards the attacker’s salary.

Yet for Liverpool, loaning out Chiesa could be viewed by many as a sign that the Reds have already given up on trying to get the best out of the 27-year-old forward, who is yet to show his true quality in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool need to stick with Chiesa for the remainder of the season

Chiesa’s time in Liverpool has been a major disappointment, with the winger arriving in England completely unfit and still recovering from injuries picked up during the years with Italy and Juventus.

Yet for Liverpool, they need to stick with Chiesa for the remainder of the season and to see if they can get a tune out of the wide-attacker, with the quality clearly there given how excited most supporters were by the Italian’s arrival.

Indeed, on his day, Chiesa is an exceptional player who can light up the Premier League, and Liverpool are a club that will give the attacker all the time in the world to reach full match fitness and to find his form again at long last.
