Liverpool have been enjoying their season so far with wins across all three competitions they’ve entered.

The Reds had been hopeful of competing for trophies this campaign, but were perhaps uncertain what to expect in a post-Jurgen Klopp world.

Although it is still very early days, the signs are there that Liverpool could well be in the mix for the biggest prizes come May.

Arne Slot has come in and hit the ground running with the Reds. There was a blip in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest, but that aside, Liverpool have been perfect.

While results have been the most pleasing thing, it has also been very encouraging to see the style of football Slot has impressed upon the Liverpool squad.

Within that, the Liverpool head coach has also managed to get plenty out of each player at his disposal, with four players in particular improving beyond recognition.

Arne Slot improves Liverpool quartet

With another weekend coming up, another challenge awaits Slot. Liverpool are favourites to beat Wolves on Saturday but nothing should be taken for granted.

Although results have been excellent since that rogue Forest result, the Reds have will have to guard against a similar thing happening again at Molineux.

Slot looks set to make plenty of changes from the team that thrashed West Ham in midweek, with what has quickly become his starting XI ready to come back into play.

As part of that, it has already been reported that Luis Diaz will replace Cody Gakpo in the starting XI.

Diaz has started the season in terrific form, scoring five goals in five Premier League games to date. And according to The Athletic, Liverpool are delighted with how Slot has brought the Colombian back to life.

They claim that Liverpool believe the Dutch coach has allowed Diaz’s level of performance to ‘surge’ having held ‘individual analysis meetings’ with him, focusing on getting the No.7 into more central positions.

As well as Diaz, Liverpool are said to think that Slot’s approach has helped Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch to have similarly impressive resurgences following dips last season.

Next challenge awaits Luis Diaz

There is no question that Diaz is looking far more dangerous this season than last year.

Having said that, though, there were other reasons for his drop off at Liverpool. The 27-year-old was still working back to full fitness after he missed most of 2022/23 with a knee injury.

Throw in the kidnap of his father back home in Colombia in October, and you have a far less than ideal environment for a footballer to thrive in.

With those problems now behind him, Diaz looks ready to attack the campaign.

Having made an exceptional start to life under Slot, the next challenge is for the former Porto man to keep up this form throughout the season. It’s a good beginning, but let’s see if Lucho and the other three top performers can keep it going.
