Liverpool face a potentially huge problem next year with Mohamed Salah likely to leave Anfield at the end of this season.

The winger’s contract is due to expire next summer, with Saudi Arabian clubs interested in signing Salah as the Liverpool forward looks to end his incredible career at Anfield at the end of this campaign under Arne Slot.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold wanted by Real Madrid, Liverpool could have a big transfer conundrum on their hands next summer if two of their best players leave Merseyside in 2025, with Salah someone who could be impossible to replace.

Yet one potential option for the Reds has now emerged as a target for Chelsea.

Chelsea to rival Liverpool for Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi

According to TuttoJuve, Chelsea have joined the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi, with Liverpool. Juventus and PSG also in the mix for the 22-year-old wide-forward.

Noted by Bild as a player with ‘crazy’ speed, Adeyemi has been on fire this season with five goals and five assists in eight games in all competitions, though the former RB Salzburg star has been out injured since the start of October.

With Dortmund looking for €50m (£42m) to sell Adeyemi, there’s good reason why the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea are now interested in the versatile attacker, who could be exceptional in the Premier League next year.

And with Liverpool having a long-standing interest in Adeyemi, there’s a good chance that the Reds could be the ideal destination for the German youngster, who could relish in the thought of replacing Salah at Anfield.

Could Adeyemi be Liverpool’s answer to replacing Salah?

Adeyemi at 22-years-old has had quite an interesting career, with the former Bayern Munich academy star once viewed as the answer to Germany’s attacking and goalscoring problems after making a name for himself at Salzburg.

Yet as per Adeyemi’s numbers since joining Dortmund in 2022 compared to Salah’s in the same period, the young forward has simply failed to live up to expectations in the Bundesliga, with injuries playing their part for the Germany international.

Although Adeyemi is showing a lot of promise this season, replacing Salah might be a leap too far for the youngster, with Liverpool likely to target someone more consistent in front of goal than the Dortmund forward.
