Liverpool are ready to spend big on fullbacks this summer, with the positions set to see a major change heading into next season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid whilst Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to overhaul their left-back options, with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas both struggling for form and fitness under Arne Slot.

As a result, the Reds have been linked with a number of fullbacks heading into the summer transfer window, with Liverpool seemingly close to signing Jeremie Frimpong already from reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Yet despite that, another right-back has emerged on Liverpool’s radar, with Arsenal and Manchester City also showing interest.

Liverpool join race to sign Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool are interested in Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso, with the 25-year-old right-back also catching attention from the likes of Arsenal and City, with Bayern Munich also keeping tabs.

Noted by Breaking The Lines as a ‘seriously good’ crosser, Cambiaso’s emergence and form has been one of the few bright sparks in what has been a difficult few years for Juventus, who this season could miss out on UEFA Champions League football.

Yet Cambiaso’s form has stood out, with the defender now a regular with the Italy national team and now attracting some major interest from the likes of Liverpool, with a move to the Premier League potentially on the cards this summer.

However, with Juventus demanding as much as €65m (£55m) for Cambiaso and Liverpool eyeing younger options in the market, the Serie A defender could be a poor choice for the Reds to replace Alexander-Arnold for next season.

Liverpool should focus on other targets way from Andrea Cambiaso

Cambiaso has proven himself to be a solid fullback since breaking the Juventus first-team, with the defender worthy of the Italian national team and good enough to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

But for what Liverpool are looking for in a replacement in Alexander-Arnold, there are better profiles out there who would also be available at cheaper prices, with Frimpong a prime example of what the Reds should be looking for.

Indeed, Liverpool are not short of right-back options this summer, and the window could throw up a surprise or two on what the Anfield side decide to in their quest to bring in a successor for Alexander-Arnold.
