As Liverpool prepare to enter into a difficult run of fixtures they may start to have one eye on the transfer window.

The Reds have so far dealt brilliantly with everything that has been thrown their way so far this campaign.

After 11 games in all competitions, Liverpool have won 10. It could hardly have gone any better for Arne Slot.

Nevertheless, this next clutch of games is going to be a huge test for the depth of the Liverpool squad. With so many tricky fixtures on the calendar, Slot is going to need as many players fit and ready to go as possible.

In that regard, Liverpool do look slightly light. But having failed to add to their squad much at all over the summer, they’re going to have to make do with what they have until January at least.

When the New Year rolls around, though, the Reds could look to make some moves to hammer home a title challenge. Jamie Carragher thinks new signings could be made and Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a big one.

Liverpool ready to make Jamie Gittens move

Liverpool did not do any business at all last January. Although they had looked in need of something extra to maintain their push on all fronts, they didn’t do anything.

Despite that, past windows have shown that the Liverpool owners are not averse to spending big on the right players in January.

Virgil van Dijk’s then record move from Southampton was secured in the first month of 2018 and has been the blueprint for January signings ever since.

This year, given the choice, most supporters would probably like to see Liverpool bring in either a new midfielder or another centre-back.

However, according to BILD, the Reds could instead be looking at signing another forward. They claim that Liverpool are willing and ready to make a ‘strong offer’ for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

Gittens has had a good start to the season, scoring four times and providing two assists in 10 games. As a result, Dortmund are said to have slapped a massive £83m price-tag on his head.

The former Man City youth academy is reportedly more realistically rated at around £29m. But with interest from the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea, Dortmund are claimed to have sent out a ‘signal’ that Gittens will not be sold on the cheap.

Jamie Gittens interest makes sense

While Liverpool do not need another attacker adding to the squad right away, they clearly will have a need for one in the near future.

Whether Mohamed Salah signs a new contract or not, he is going to have to be replaced over the coming years.

As a young, English forward impressing in one of Europe’s top five leagues and in the Champions League, it’s normal that Gittens would catch the eye.

Former Brighton man Pascal Gross recently hailed Gittens as being ‘unbelievably strong‘ and at just 20-years-old he has so much time ahead of him to improve further.

While the £88m price-tag is clearly a little ridiculous from Dortmund at this stage, it’s clear that Gittens has the potential to be a very good player indeed. Liverpool should be keeping him in their thoughts.
