Liverpool are in the market for a new long-term left-back, and AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has emerged as a top target for the Reds.

The Hungary international has been one of the defensive stars of the season in the Premier League with Jamie Carragher already saying Liverpool should make a move for Kerkez, who might be the answer to replacing Andy Robertson under Arne Slot.

With Bournemouth valuing Kerkez at £40m, the former AZ Alkmaar star could cost Liverpool a pretty penny if they’re to bring the 21-year-old Serbian-born defender to Anfield, though the investment could be worth it given how badly the Reds need work in the left-back position.

And Bouthemouth are now privately saying something quite exciting about Kerkez amid Liverpool’s interest.

Bournemouth believe Liverpool target Kerkez is one of Premier League’s ‘most coveted’ players

Accoridng to the i Paper, the Cherries believe Kerkez is ranked amongst the Premier League’s ‘most coveted’ players, alongside fellow Bournemouth stars Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen and Liverpool-linked Antoine Semenyo.

With the south coast English side dreaming of a European finish this season, there’s good reason for Bournemouth to believe they have some of the most exciting players in the Premier League, with Kerkez on Liverpool’s radar.

Indeed, Carragher noted on Sunday that Liverpool need to improve at left-back if they’re to go the extra mile in their bid to win the Premier League, with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas’ performances and fitness coming under fire this season.

Yet in Kerkez, Liverpool could have the dream signing to succeed their current left-back options, with the Hungarian youngster making the Premier League look easy despite his tender age and relative lack of experience at the highest level.

What other left-backs have Liverpool been linked with?

Liverpool are ready to spend to improve four positions this year, with left-back arguably the area of the pitch that needs the most attention as Slot looks to create a new dynasty with the Anfield giants after such a sensational start to life in England.

And Kerkez is far from the only left-back the Reds have been linked with, with Fulham star Antonee Robinson believed to be a target for Liverpool as the American has enjoyed an incredible year in the Premier League.

Although Liverpool target Alphonso Davies is now set to sign a new contract with Bayer Munich, the Reds are still in a good position to strengthen at left-back this January, with the summer also a good opportunity for the Reds to make an impact.
