Report: PSG may have just dropped big hint that they won't sign Liverpool-linked Khvicha Kvatashkhelia in Jan

The January transfer window is well and truly underway and a big story involving Liverpool emerged in the mainstream media earlier this week.
The Reds are interested in signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, who has thus far been unwilling to renew his contract with the Serie A club.
Antonio Conte’s side are in a precarious position as the Georgian’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, so they need to decide whether they want to stick or twist.
However, PSG have been dubbed as frontrunners for Kvaratskhelia’s signature as the Reds wait patiently on the wings.
And now, it appears as if Liverpool have received a big boost in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, with the Parisians also interested in signing Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
Liverpool may have got a boost in race for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Liverpool have always been on the lookout for market opportunities and with Napoli under a bit of pressure to sell Kvaratskhelia, the Reds have declared their interest, but it remains to be seen if they make an official offer.
PSG’s interest throws a spanner into the works of Liverpool’s plans, with the Ligue 1 side looking to bolster their ranks in January.
According to RMC Sport, Luis Enrique’s side have decided to press ahead with a move for Duran, who has had a fantastic season with Aston Villa so far.
Now, how could this affect Liverpool?
RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, whose report on Duran we mentioned earlier, has appeared to suggest that PSG will only sign one of Duran or Kvataskhelia this month.
While the tweet is in French, it translates to ‘one or the other,’ which is the response Hawkins had when asked if PSG are looking to sign both Kvaratskhelia and Duran.
And now, with the Ligue 1 side pressing ahead with a move for the Colombian, it’s definitely a good sign for Liverpool as they could have a bit of a free run at the player.
Even if we were to disregard the Duran pursuit, PSG are finding it hard to meet Kvataskhelia’s asking price, with Napoli demanding £67m to let him go in January.
What do the Kvataskhelia links mean for Liverpool?
Liverpool already have six attackers at the club, so links with Kvaratskhelia don’t make too much sense at first glance.
However, there have been reports that Darwin Nunez could leave Liverpool after failing to make an impression since his big-money move from Benfica in 2022.
Additionally, Diogo Jota has struggled with injuries, while Federico Chiesa has found it hard to adapt to the Premier League after his move from Juventus in the summer.
The Reds have always believed in succession planning, and the Kvataskhelia links seem to suggest that they have an ace up their sleeve to refresh their attack.
