Report: 'Sensational' player has clearly told Liverpool that he wants to leave and join Barcelona

Things are going quite well for Liverpool on the pitch, but Arne Slot still has a few issues to sort out in terms of his players’ futures.
The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are set to become free agents next year, with the trio in talks with the club to extend their contracts currently.
Apart from them, Luis Diaz’s future has also come under doubt in recent months after he was linked with a summer move to Barcelona.
And now, the saga seems to have moved along a little bit, with the Colombian reportedly wanting to move to the Catalan club.
Luis Diaz wants to leave Liverpool for Barcelona
Diaz was linked with a transfer to Barcelona earlier this season, but the move never came to fruition as he decided to remain at Liverpool.
The decision seems to have worked out for him as he has taken to Slot’s football like a fish to water, becoming a key player under the Dutchman.
Liverpool want to give Diaz a new contract, but it appears as if the 27-year-old has other ideas.
According to Caught Offside, both Barcelona and PSG are in the running to secure his signature, with the Colombian showing a ‘clear willingness’ to join the Catalan giants.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are standing firm on the fact that Diaz is not for sale and have told him directly that a move will not be encouraged.
The report also states that Slot is very happy with his performances at the start of the season, which is a sign that he wants to keep him at the club.
Neither of the two clubs has made an offer so far, but PSG, for their part, are willing to offer £51m plus a player in exchange, a deal Liverpool have absolutely no interest in at this stage.
Diaz’s stats this season
Alan Shearer felt Diaz was sensational for Liverpool in their 6-3 win against Tottenham as he played as a number nine and scored a brace.
While he has mostly shared duties on the left flank with Cody Gakpo, the Colombian has also impressed as a number nine as he scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen earlier this season.
Diaz is clearly rated by Slot and has a contract at the club until 2027, so Liverpool hold all the aces in terms of his future and will be in no rush to make a decision.
