Report: 'World-class' Liverpool player now ready to take pay cut to leave Anfield this summer

Liverpool are on course to win their second Premier League title, yet a good many players from this squad are set to leave in the summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold looks destined to join Real Madrid whilst Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez could be sold by Liverpool, with Caoimhin Kelleher also expected to leave Anfield despite a number of top performances in Alisson Becker’s absence.
With Liverpool ready to make at least five new signings, every area of the pitch is expected to see plenty of upheaval, with some big departures lined up as a result of such a big squad overhaul heading into Arne Slot’s second season.
And one Liverpool star is seemingly set on leaving Anfield this summer, with the player even willing to take a pay cut to make a move happen.
Wataru Endo open to wage reduction to leave Liverpool this summer
According to Bild, Wataru Endo is ready to take a pay cut to push through an exit from Liverpool this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt interested in bringing the Japanese international back to the Bundesliga.
Noted by Jurgen Klopp as a ‘world-class’ player, Endo has been hardly used by Slot this season, with the former VfB Stuttgart captain playing 742 minutes in all competitions, making just six starts, none of which have come in the Premier League.
With Liverpool expected to sign a new central midfielder, allowing Endo to leave will be a wise decision from the Reds given how little the 32-year-old has played this season and how much interest the former Bundesliga star could attract in the summer.
And with Endo now open to taking a pay cut to leave Liverpool, the decision to sell the Japanese international appears to be an obvious one, with the midfielder likely to bring in a good fee in the transfer window.
Wataru Endo leaving Liverpool would be a massive result
Endo’s time at Liverpool has been mixed, to say the least, with the former Bundesliga midfielder always feeling like a fish out of water after being surprisingly signed in 2023 following the departure of Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.
Two years on from the deal, and Liverpool fans would feel like the sale of Endo would be a big result for the Reds, especially with so much work needing to be done this summer, with Slot already seemingly showing he world what he thinks of the Japanese star based off his limited minutes.
Indeed, Endo returning to the Bundesliga for one final big contract would be an ideal situation for all parties involved, and for Liverpool, cutting loose the former Stuttgart man won’t feel like a big financial loss given how cheap the midfielder was to begin with.
